Hello history loving Bloggers!
Today I am going to share with all of you what I have learned about Zeus’s early childhood. So really, my question was specifically, “What happened between Zeus, his siblings, and his dad, Cronus during Zeus’s early stages of life?” Well, here is what I figured out!
Zeus’s father, Cronus had found that one of his children was going to overthrow him. So, he wanted to make sure that one of his children couldn't possibly overthrow him, therefore he then tried to swallow all of his children the very second they were born! (He swallowed some of them.) But, Zeus’s mother, Rhea didn’t want Zeus to be eaten, so she hid young Zeus in a cave on Crete, and swaddled a stone to make it look like a baby, and gave that to Cronus instead.
While in the cave, Zeus was nursed by a nymph (female goat), by the name of Amalthaea, and grew up by her side. He was also guarded by Curetes, (young soldiers) as he grew to be a man. Even When he was a baby, they clashed their weapons against each other to obscure the sound of his crys.
Once Zeus was a full grown man, he led a revolt against the Titans, and overthrew his father Cronus, (maybe with the help of his brothers, Hades, and Poseidon.) So in the end one of Cronus’s children DID, overthrow him.
Well, there is the story of Zeus’s childhood, what happened between himself, his siblings, and his father, Cronus. Please check out my sources below for the information I collected to write this post!
